Prospects for the development of pomegranate growing in Fergana

The world's population, along with the volume of food processing, recycling and consumption of food products in world markets, is growing rapidly. After all, according to the UN, "by 2050, the world population will reach 9.2 billion people. People will require 70% of agricultural production."

It is possible to grow fruit and vegetable products in the country's agrarian sector and export them without having to be very large. Today, more than 80 types of agricultural products grown in our republic are exported to 66 countries of the world. At the same time, the lack of effective market mechanisms in the field, especially in the development of fruit and vegetable growing and viticulture, and the lack of scientific production leads to full production through the network.

According to calculations, there is a possibility of obtaining 7 times more income from grapes, 6 times more from cherries, and 5 times more from walnuts than from cotton grown on 1 hectare of land. However, in the current conditions, the theoretical and methodological foundations for the formation of an effective system of integration of the fruit and vegetable growing sector of our republic into the world food and agricultural markets that complies with market principles have not been fully studied. The organizational and economic mechanisms that serve to integrate the fruit and vegetable growing sector into the world trade system and increase its export potential have not been sufficiently developed. In this regard, the issues of improving the system of integration into world agricultural markets that corresponds to the specific characteristics of the fruit and vegetable growing and viticulture sector and allows ensuring the competitiveness of the sector are becoming particularly urgent and require the development of recommendations for improving this system.
